Responsible play sounds like a slogan until you have watched a guest lose a night they did not plan to lose. The advice below is not about telling you how to enjoy yourself. It is about setting a few things up before you sit down, so that the decision to stop is a decision, not a reaction. The first step is deciding the number before you go. Not a rough idea. A real number in your head or on a note. That number covers gaming only, not dinner, not drinks, not the room. Once you have it, treat it as a budget for the evening, not a target to chase back. If the number is gone, the evening on the floor is done. What you do after is up to you, and the hotel has plenty that does not involve a table. The second step is time. Most guests are surprised how quickly four hours pass. Set an alarm on your phone before you start. When it goes off, stand up and walk the corridor or step outside for ten minutes. That single break resets more than people expect. If you are on a losing run, it also gives you the space to notice it before it becomes the whole night. Nobody plays well when they are tired and annoyed. The third step is the one most guests skip, and it matters most. Book a self-exclusion or a cooling-off period before you need it. We offer both at the concierge desk, in person, and they take effect immediately. There is no shame in using them. The guests who use them are usually the ones who come back to the hotel for a good reason rather than a bad one. Support contacts are on the leaflet at the desk, and any member of staff will walk you through the options without judgement.
